Gravel recording on a chute

A customer approached us with the need for a system to record falling gravel. What sounds easy in the beginning is not that easy due to the demanding rough environment.

Our solution is based on a 5MP monochrome camera, integrated in a IP67 housing, flanked by two customized pvLight LED panels on each side, to provide enough light to record the stones in movement. To protect the illumination from damage they are covered with plexiglass.

Recording is started through a trigger and images are taken when the gravel passes the camera.

On the user interface the operator can decide whether a number of images per trigger should be recorded or specify the duration how long the recording should run after a trigger. The number of frames or seconds can be adjusted and adapted to the respective requirements. The application allows furthermore to adapt to environmental conditions by adjusting parameters like gain and exposure time. The images are then stored in preselected folders.
